On January 15, 2021 a community forum was held in Tumnum Leu village, one of the earliest villages where around 45 families of former Khmer Rouge members started to settle down before the reintegration of Anlong Veng into the Royal Government of Cambodia in 1998. Eighteen villagers (9 female and 9 male) attending the “Community Forum” organized by the Anlong Veng Peace Center of DC-Cam reiterated the need to embrace it, rather than deny it. KR history, retributive justice at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), and its impacts on rule of law at community level were raised for discussion among villagers inside a modest meeting hall of the village.
