Baan Sammi was founded in 2003, and the Bambusetum was established several years later. During the period until 2019, floods occurred in two years: in September 2016 and July 2018. Thanks to a dam and a floodgate, the water level of the ponds and ditches on the property of Baan Sammi was controlled so that only occasional minor flooding occurred. Only the water level of a single, separate pond (Pond South), which is within the property but connected to the public canal outside, remained unregulated, so the bamboo plants on its banks were flooded for 1–2 weeks. In addition, there are some low areas on the Baan Sammi property on which puddles formed during continuous rain, which affected a few bamboos for about 1–2 weeks. All bamboo species, except one young plant, survived with more or less impaired growth.
