On February 22nd, DC-Cam's team of Genocide Research and Education in Cambodia went to Hun Sen Kampong Tralach High School to conduct a classroom forum on the importance of learning a history of Democratic Kampuchea through a request from this high school director.
One hundred grade-12 students attended this event. Few history teachers were invited by the school director to attend this in order to improve their knowledge on this dark history.
The forum started at 2 p.m. and finished at 5:45 p.m. During these hours, the team set a program as below:
1. Gathering and attendance list of students;
2. Pre-survey to measure student's knowledge before the forum;
3. K-W Charts - students wrote their knowledge of KR and wrote questions which will respect to have answers;
4. Screening a documentary film; Children of Kampuchea;
5. Short Presentation of DK history;
6. Answer Student's questions on flip-charts;
7. Post-survey to measure student's knowledge after the forum;
8. Presentation of Genocide Education's Facebook and Website; and
9. Textbook distribution and recommendation;
