I was hoping to replicate some of the pleasures recently enjoyed while hiking soon after a storm when I chose Fox Mountain and Condor Peak. Bagging the peaks involved a rather boring hike almost entirely along dirt roads and use trails, though at around 5,000' in elevation, snow patches appeared frequently enough to add some joy, and it was cool seeing running streams in the San Gabriels.
Sunday's hike to McAuley Peak was similarly boring, though a bit more scenic. The Santa Monicas were much more colorful, and the views of the Pacific didn't hurt either. The tiny scramble up the block at the end was kind of fun. It was nice to get in some good exercise and check boxes on my lists of peaks
