1-5
Good weather means good conditions for flying to interesting places, new for us. Takeoff and we are soon above Laugheed City Centre on the border between Burnaby and Coquitlam, a very convenient living place. The usual north road along Coastal Mountains with a good view to Downtown and Stanley Park and we are above Bowen Island going Northwest.
6-10
Continue farther Northwest via Sechelt, Trail Islands, Merry Island Lighthouse, Gill Beach and Buccaneer Bay, we are at the point to turn left and cross the Strait of Georgia.
11-15
Texada and Lasqueti Islands are behind us, Vancouver Island, its Comox Valley ahead. Soon the valley is behind us too and we are flying above Strathcona Provincial Park with its wild mountain landscape.
16-20
We are close to the western coast of Vancouver Island crossing Sydney Inlet Pacific Provincial Park. Finally, Pacific Ocean beaches are below us. A few minutes more and we are above Nutka Lighthouse.
21-25
Inspection of the place for landing. The improvised runway is situated near Calvin Creek Waterfall. No obstacles were revealed and we decided to land.
26-30
Final approach and we are on the beach.
31-35
It’s windy a little and we are moving the plane a little bit to a quieter place and going to the waterfall where trees create a shield and logs on the sand can be used as tables and seats for improvised lunch.
36-40 Two maps: 1) Boundary Bay - Nootka, 2) Inspection and landing circles. In the third pic, you can find three humpbacks if you are lucky. Two last pics I placed here just to remember the place, wonderful Nootka Island.
