Club travels to the Altus Arkansas Wine Festival. Our group met at the McDonalds located at 129th and I-44 to begin our trip to Clarksville, AR. We made our 1st lunch stop at the Colton's Steak House in Van Buren, AR. The meal was delicious and everyone seemed to enjoy their order. The weather was overcast with breaks in the clouds occasionally, but no rain. Dinner was a surprise to all. Our leaders made a big deal about lining up and getting on our way because there was going to be several traffic lights and did not want to get separated. Joke was on us!!! They lead us around the other side of the motel to the Mexican restaurant located in front of our motel. We all parked our cars, but could have walked. We are planning payback when they least expect it. LOL The Saturday tour of the Post Winery was very informative and the food at the Trellis Room located there was great. Everyone enjoyed the sampling of the different types of wine and purchased some to enjoy back home. There was also live music to enjoy during our meal outside. Sunday we woke up to rain to return home in. However, we eventually drove into partly cloudy skies. After our first rest stop, our leader drove us through parts of the Pig Trail. Wonderful twisty roads and foliage. There was a questionable old bridge he took us across. It looked like it would give way with our cars but we all made it across. LOL The stop at the Catfish Hole for lunch in Alma, AR. was every bit as good as the other location we ate at on another trip. After lunch part of the group took another route home and the rest of group followed highway 59 north to Siloam Springs. Very scenic road. Another fantastic Miata getaway!
