Work on Unity Park, a new neighborhood park located at 1700 NE 31st Ave., began in August of 2020 and completed in the fall of 2021. Improvements to the park included two new basketball courts, a community garden, playground equipment, sidewalk games, a pavilion, grill and a walking loop with fitness stations. The Flatwoods Conservation Area Trailhead, located nearby at 2010 NE 31st Ave., also received upgrades to include parking lot improvements, a new kiosk, a trash/recycling container and bike racks. The approximate project cost was $1,081,038.
