Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA) is one of the great art museums in the country. As a member, I have visited it several times. There are permanent exhibits as well as special exhibits loaned from private collectors and other museums. There is also another Museum called Perelman Museum, administered by PMA. It is not too far from PMA and a shuttle bus takes you there. Perelman Museum has costume, textile, fashion exhibits and additional art work grouped under a theme.
I have selected few photos of the paintings and marble collections from PMA in this album. The visit took place in 2016. I have also added photos of fashion exhibits and modern art originated at the French Riviera displayed at Perelman. The visit took place in 2009.
It was always interesting to see the big sculpture, Social Consciousness at the West side entrance of PMA. But it has been moved to University of Pennsylvania Campus recently to expand the museum space. Luckily I have captured it in my previous visits and included in this album. Once inside PMA, a visual feast is awaiting you namely the art work of European Masters, marble collections from Europe and profound South Asian exhibits. The special exhibitions such as fashion art of Kansai Yamamoto and modern art of Henri Matisse are memorable and makes the trip to Perelman worthwhile.
No matter how many times I go to these Museums, there is always something new and interesting to see. Thanks to the friendship among global museums. Art travels and art lovers benefit.
