Rural Portugal
Bags out at 7:30 am and on the bus at 8:30 am.
Along the way to Evora, we stopped at a tile factory and had a chance to make our own tiles. We left them there and anticipate see the results after the tiles have been fired.
We then went to a small cheese production. A really wonderful lady explained process and had several of us help in making some cheese.
We then sat down for a very enjoyable lunch featuring several cheeses including the one we had just made.
Then on to Evora where we arrived around 3:30 at our pousada. It is a converted convent and the rooms are cells. Very quaint and pleasant. We took a short walking tour of the area close to the pousada.
Then we boarded our bus for a short ride to the outskirts of the city to visit the home of a wealthy family—a gentleman’s farm— where we had a home hosted dinner. It was a great opportunity to interact with the six family members and learn about their lives. Vina even learned a bit about the Game of Thrones episode we had missed because of traveling.
