On October 14th, 1918, Moorsele and Gullegem were liberated by the 15th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles / Irish 36th (Ulster) Division. The municipality of Wevelgem in collaboration with the Historical societies of Wevelgem and Gullegem commemorated 100 years of Liberation of Wevelgem and the end of the Great War, at 14:00 on Saturday 13th October 2018 at Moorseele Military Cemetery.
