Very interesting and fun day paddling through the Nescopeck State Park with Bart today. In this roughly 7 mile scouting run, the first 3 miles were like Paradise; some of the best, most beautiful paddling I've ever done. The next two miles were hellish, some of the worst, ugliest paddling I've ever done. The last two miles were not quite as good as the first two miles, but we were treated to some more scenic and uneventful river miles as we ended this trip. Quite a study in contrasts!
Getting to the put in involved dragging our boats for about a half mile along hiking trails near the park office
Section 1: Paradise Found: The first two miles were fabulous because of the rocks in and along the creek, the hemlock forest that the creek passed through, and the clear cold water in the creek. No signs of civilization, no other paddlers, a few riffles and two delightful class II ledge drops.
