Ok now that I’ve recovered enough, it’s time to start blogging! This time I’ll start the blog on Day 0...since our vacation got off to an auspicious start: about 30 minutes before we needed to leave for the airport, it started raining. Alexa told us the rain would end in 30 minutes so we waited...but after 30 minutes, when we really needed to be leaving, it was a MONSOON! Sideways rain, lightning strikes right near us, etc...so we kept waiting. Finally, we just had to go brave it because we didn’t want to miss our flight! We ended up soaking wet by the time we got in the car...and had to change clothes/shoes at the airport! Thanks to the rain (grrr), the incoming flight from Madrid was delayed...which meant our outbound flight was also delayed...by TWO HOURS! Finally...a little before midnight, we took off, landing in Madrid close to 2pm. We chose to take the train to Madrid center, since our Hotel was strategically located near the train station...but we didn’t realize it wasn’t a direct trip until it was too late. We had to make 3 train switches and it took about an hour (of mostly standing due to the trains being full)...but hey it saved us a whopping 10 euro and we made it!
